I wanted to know my odds of getting joint custody.

I have a four year old son and am going through a separation. I have hired an attorney and I have a court date 3-13-08, but I am going for joint custody but she wants sole custody. She has written down anything I have ever said or done and has warned me she intends on doing whatever it takes to win. Her lawyer is saying she is arguing the childs best intrest. Do I have a chance? I have never hit her and the only thing I have on my record is a D.U.I. She has a control problem and I am worried she will keep me from my son.

I would not worry to much. Today the court likes the fact that parents want joint custody. She may not want it but I think your odds are good of getting it. She can still get physical custody. Your dUI should not be held against you. I would not let her scare you into backing down. Make sure that you go to the hearing when it comes because if you don't she will be awarded sole custody. I wish you the best I think loving your child or children is good thing so many fathers just walk away. They will love you for fighting for them.
