Joint Custody

I am currently separated from my wife of 10 years. I have both joint legal and physical custody of my daughters. I pay the court appointed amount of child support based on my wife having primary custody. Our current arrangement is 60/40 and I am attempting to get 50/50 which would be one additional day per week. Can I make a case that my child support be adjusted as well? I make roughly twice my wife salary but her salary over 50k per year and she is currently living in the home. We live in MA.

You can always file a motion and ask for the child support to be lowered,if and when the court grants you an additional day pre week. However you need to know that if your making twice the salary as your wife that the courts will more than likely not change the child support amount. You can also consult with an attorney for legal advice.

Would the courts take into account that A) my wife is currently underemployed and B) that at 50/50 custody the children will custodial parent would just be for legal purposes and if so should I look into being the custodial parent? Not that I want to deny my children anything and would keep the amount as close to the original order but as a father I feel the need even the table just a bit so they have the same experience at my place as they do are hers.
