Joint Custody Consent to leave the state

I am a joint custodial parent in NY. My ex wants to take my son on"vacation" to another state, but I don't trust her. Do I have the right to request a written consent from her?

It usally states in your divorcee degree that either parent can take the child or children out of a state for a visit as long as the parent lets the other one know. If you feel more comforiable having her sign a statement stating when she is leaving and when she will be back I would do that.
