Joint custody

What are the specifics of obtaining joint custody in the state of ohio without the use of a lawyer? My son is 7 years old and lives during the week with his mom and her husband. They have another child that lives with them. We do not have any specific visitation agreement, but do have an agreed upon child support arrangement of 400 a month through the courts. I get my son almost every weekend of the year and pretty much whenever my job allows.

Your visitations are not secured unless you have them though the court. It is best to file for joint custody so that the court can stipulate your visits. This is to protect your rights.
