Kids are in North Carolina

I live in California and my kids live in North Carolina with their mother and she will not allow me to see them. She is currently bouncing around from place to place and staying with her friends. How do I go about filing for visitation/joint custody in another state and can they find out where she is at? If not then how will I go about finding her if she will not tell me?

Well you have legal rights however if you do not know where she is then it is hard to file for visitation. The state will not help you find her,but if you find her then you would need to file for visitations in the state that the children reside at. Your best bet is to get in touch with friends and family that may be aware of her where abouts. If she is just bouncing around then it is even harder.

Well we do have a current case regarding child support in the county she used to live in and they had already established the paternity and everything so couldn't I go through that same county to try to establish visitation? Also if I have the courts subpoena her parents (they know her whereabouts) would that help in locating her?
