Shared joint custody?

What is 'shared joint custody? The father of my daughters baby has asked her if she wants 'shared joint custody but we don't know what to do cause he has send her, via email, messages stating he will not claim anything with her, that he wants nothing to do with 'THAT BABY' or any of us. That all he will be is father/donor but NEVER the daddy. Him and his wife talked real bad about both my daughter n grandbaby.
He even said he would even sign over his parental rights. I fear for my grandbaby if she ever has to go over for visitation. About 3 wks ago him and his wife threaten my daughter, he went as far as pushing her and spitting in her face. We have the emails were he states all this. Could they be used in court? What are her chances of getting sole custody?

It sounds like he dont want to have anything to do with his daughter , why would he want joint
joint custody, that don't make sense to me if all you say is true , I don't think he wants joint costody or anything else to do with her , and yes the e-mails would help in court if he even shows up for court . In my opinion i don't think you would have any problem getting sole costody

Everything i said is TRUE,,,,,he has done plenty of other (bad) things. Since he found out he was the father he has called my daughter twice,,,,not ONCE did he ask about the baby. His only concern is how much money is coming out of his pocket and,,,trying to figure out a way to get out of it without having to pay.

Cause i totally feel the same way. And its true,,,,cause if someone really cares and wants something to do with their children, they will come around and ask about them, do something positive to show they are really interested in being in their lifes.
