Legal guardianship

My husband and I have legal guardianship of 2 great nephews and 1 great niece; 14, 10 and 8 years old. My niece left them and my sister, their grandmother, asked us to take them until my niece got her "life in order". After a year the judge in Indiana who had granted us temporay guardianship said that he doesn't like temporary status to go longer than 6 months and we needed to petition for full legal guardianship. We did so and it was granted. The grandmother did try at that time to get the guardianship changed to her, but the judge ordered that the children were doing well and had fully adjusted to being with us. The Grandmother and mother of the children live in Kentucky and we in Indiana. I have been offered a great job in Tampa, FL and am wondering how difficult this will be and if I might have a battle on my hands taking the children to FL. Do I have to request this from the judge? The children have been with us now for 3 years.
