My wife and I made a mistake letting our grandson go live with his father

May of this year we allowed our grandson to move to Las Vegas with his Father. Prior to this the Father had seen him on rotating holidays. Our grandson doesn't really know his father and since our grandson has been living with his father it's been one thing after another.The only reason we agreed was his father made a lot of promises, with the ageement if our grandson didn't acclimate we could have him back to live with us. Now his father is threatening to take our grandsons cell phone away our only real communication. We also purchased a car for our grand son which his father is threatening to take also. Now our ex son-in- law has been paying 600 a month for a while and left the boy when he was 3 years old and we pretty much raised him. The boys mother gave up custody of our grandson immediately and hasn't been anything but selfish and uncaring. Now our grandson is a good kid. Makes good grades but now we think he should be returned to us, because we have had the greatest positive influence on his life. Our grandson is 16 soon to be 17 and being trated like a child , what can we do?
