Ongoing custody/visitation issues

I am the father of two children, 9 and 11 years old. I have sole custody of my children due to the mother’s psychological problems. r. She continues to behave irresponsibly around the children necessitating me to take actions and she file motions to take me back to court to increase visitation. It has gotten to the point that my finances have been drained and I may be forced to represent myself. I have gradually increased her visitation from no overnights, to almost normal standard visitation under the supervision of the children's counselor, yet she continues to file motions. Is there any important information or reference material available hat may help guide me or prevent me from making any fatal mistakes? And if I choose to represent myself, do I contact her attorney and inform him of such?

I would say that you need to make a stop at your towns local Family Court. They ask them for a copy child visitation guidelines (if they have them, they will provide you a copy). You don't need to tell her lawyer that you are representing yourself (unless motions are being sent to your lawyer, then you would have to let him know that you want everything sent to you- you should be having this sent to you anyway, so you know that your getting everything). Has the courts set anything as far as visitations when you have gone? If she is still not acting like an adult, why are you letting her have more visitation? Please don't agree to something just because she is whinning or nagging, think of the children and the effects that her behavior has on them! Good luck to you!
