Can I move out of state with my child?

I have a child with a man I have lived with for over 7yrs. I live in Pa. I want to move to Florida, where I have family there. The father of my child threatens me that he will fight me from taking our child out of state. Can he stop me from relocating? Do I have any rights here? Thanks for any info you can give me.

Maybe, I can provide some insight to this. You cannot move out of state unless you get the family court permission. If you do not get court permission you can be charged with kidnapping.

But here is the flip side. Usually, the wife or woman almost always gets permission to go anywhere they want. Remember, the law almost always favor the woman and not the man. If you remarry or join the military, you will most definitly get permission to move anywhere.

In some states, you must have a reason to move, such as: job promotion, military, family location, or anything that improve the life of the children. I am pretty sure you can think of something that improves their life. Take care.

Check with the laws of the State and look in your divorce decree. You can call the State Attorneys office and possibly get an answer about you leaving. He could sue even if you are free to leave now, and that would mean having to come back to do the court, but I am sure his winning will depend on how much he is actively involved with his child. Pray for wisdom as well.
