As far as I know, the state the baby is born in has jurisdiction over the child. There is an amount of time you have to be there, but I can't remember that. Maybe 3 months.

If he has signed his name on the childs birth certificate then he could file for custody or joint custdy of the child. You should go and file for custody of the child and give the father stipulated visits and child support will be awarded at that time. You need to know that until one of you have filed for custody neither one of you have it. It has to be ordered though the court. If he has not signed his name on the birt certificate then he will have know rights until he takes a partenty test to prove he is the father in that case you can file for custody and ask the court to allow you to move out of state and you would not want to stipulate any visiations. That way you will have the courts consent to move.
