Well usally when you take guardianship the court ask that you have insurance,at least they did with myself and husband when we got guardianship of our granson. If you are a grandparent and you don't have an insurance plan though your work then you can apply for medicaid. Just call the social service in your area and tell them you want to apply as a caregiver and you could also be eligiable for some cash assistance. Food stamps would have to be deemed by incom for everyone that lives in the home. Hope this helps
