SHould I be worried that my ex will try to get custody of my son, and get it??

I am 26 and have a 5 yr old son. I am a wonderful, caring, responsible mother who works full time, has a steady job and a good home. I recently moved out of my boyfriends place after over 2 years of being together. My ex (son's father) and I split up three years ago, I left him, and he has since remarried. He still lived in the same house we did when we were together for almost 5 years before I left. Now that I am on my own, a single parent, but still a great mother, good job and provide a nice home and everything he needs, should I be worried about my ex getting custody of our son if he tried. Because he is married and has a house and a stable job etc??? My mom has got me so worried that he will try and take him from me...

Please - don't worry! Tell your mom to get off your back!

A judge is not going to take a child away from his mother out of a stable house where he has been fine all of this time. The only way the judge would switch custody is if you were an unfit mother. If you use drugs, put your son in danger, etc. Has your ex threatened to do this? Does he have visitation?

Don't worry about it. Courts don't care about who has what, who has a better house, etc. If you do not have a history of physical, alcohol or drug abuse you won't lose custody. Your just going through a change and that's part of life. Courts understand that children need both of their parents, especially their mothers.
