Adopting a stepchild with absentee father

My husband would like to adopt my son. I was not ever married to the biological father, and my husband has been raising him since he was 2 yrs old (he's now 9). The biological father does not see him, but every once in a while he might send a card or letter. We've never received any type of support & he's never gone through the process of support or visitation rights. I have an idea of his general whereabouts, but no actual address. Is it possible for my husband to adopt him?

You would have to get the premission from the father in order for your husband to adopt the child. If you can find away to reach him so that you could try and get his consent maybe though some of his family.
