Can I lose custody of my kids

I have three kids and my divorce is almost final. My ex husband and I have been to court and I have sole custody of the kids. He pays 1200.00 a month childsupport. Since weve been to court I have been taken out of work and I am currently under a doctors care. Can lose custody of my kids because Im not working. Their father works two jobs and hes only home 2 days aweek and he lives with his mother.

This is a tough situation because I think this relies on 2 factors.

1. With your medical condition taking you out of work, is it affected the care your children get. Can you properly care for them in this condition?

2. Can you afford your kids? If the only money coming in is his child support then this could be a problem because $1200 a month isn't enough money to support you and your 3 children.

I can speak from experience that just because your out of work doesn't mean that he will get custody. My ex was living with her two ther children and my child on just $307 a month I paid in support. I sued for custody (because she is an unfit mother) and I tried to use that as part of my case and the judge said it does not matter. It is who usually takes care of the children in the past 12 months. (I eventually received custody for other reasons).
