Whether or not he is on the birth certificate doesn't matter....it only makes it easier for him when he files a motion for establishment of paterninty with the courts. That is the only way he has any legal rights to see that child. Not the birth certificate or paying child support. So if you feel your childs life is in danger wait it out and have him file the proper paperwork to get it going to see the child. If he doesnt he has no legal rights in the courts eyes and anything you do above and beyond is just being nice. When he does file..make sure you note your concerns and have them addressed. Him being an officer doesn't make a difference in civilian courts...except say something about his character...Good Luck.
