Temporary Custody

I am a sister of some one who has lost temporary custody of her children. As far as I understand, my sister had a baby with a married man. That man beat on her and that caused her to lose custody of her other three children and temporary custody of the child that they share together. Currently, the abusive man's wife has the baby. Under Georgia Law do I as the sister of the mother have more legal rights to the child?

I'm not sure if you do or not, but he is the father of their child. Which isn't always a good thing.

She should try and get sole, if not joint custody of her child.

If you can prove somehow that the father is abusive, then you can go to court and file for custody of the child. This can be an unsafe environment for the child and if the mother will vouch for temporary custody to be granted to you then you would have a good case.
