The judge granted my husband temporary custody, what do i have to do to get custody of my children?

I left my husband with two of our three children in May 2007. Three weeks later he picked up the children for a visit and didn't return them. Then he hid them from me for three months, had me ticketed for tresspassing, moved, enrolled the children in a different school and filed for divorce. When we went to court he admitted to drug and alcohol abuse, unstable job history, and claimed that I was mentally unstable. I was a stay at home mom for 7 years, and thought the judge would allow me to continue my relationship with my children, but my husband also stated that I had a boyfriend and he was concerned about the children staying with me. The judge granted us joint custody, but gave my husband temporary possesion of the children in Oct. 2007. Our two younger children complain that they are not getting quality time with their father, and my daughter states to me every visit that she wants to live with me. Their father also speaks very badly about me and my boyfriend to the children. The children have poor hygien, have bad grades in school, and my daughter is failing a class in the 1st grade. My husband is emotionally and verbally abusive, has anger and control issues. What steps do I take in order to obtain possesion of our children.

You will have to prove it. Since he has temporary custody it is going to be easier to get them back than if he had full custody or residential parent. The thing is it will have to be done legally, you can ask for a hearing without a lawyer and take your chances. If that doesn't work then you must hire a lawyer to acheive your goal of helping your children. Good luck.
