Travel with our child

My ex wife has sole custody of our son and i have visitation. Can she take our child out of state without my permission? She is not moving just taking him to California for a weekend that also happens to be my weekend. We have had a regular schedule where I get him every other weekend and half a weekend on the fifth weekend. She changed the schedule to fit her plans I didnt think she could do this. Please help

Might be possible that it's going to be hard for her to change her travel plans. Can you just swap weekends with her? Maybe take the child the weekend before or after? If she won't allow that then she's being selfish.

She would not swap weekends. She thinks she can do whatever she wants because she has sole custody. I know i have rights and I'm working on taking her back to court. I know in with joint custody you have to have permission of the other parent before taking the child out of state and i also kno wyou cant just change the schedule whenever you feel like it. I just want to see my son.

You're right, you do have rights. If she's acting like that then you have every right to put her in her place, sorry to say that but it's true. Your son needs to spend time with you. Changing the schedule on you is rude and inconsiderate.

I think that if she has sole custody that she really doesn't have to allow you even those 2 weeks a month correct? Unless you have a joint custody situation where that is what was decided.

With sole custody, she probably could legally do what she is doing.

not that it would help with this coming weekend with her going on the trip, but I would establish some sort of joint custody to prevent this from happening again.
