Visitation of infant

I am going to be a father in July, and am not currently in a relationship with the mother. I want to have an equal part in the baby's life though because I feel equally responsible and I feel that it's important for a child to have a relationship with his or her father. Having said that, I'm getting married in April, and the mother of the child is telling me that my wife will have no part of the child's life for the first year because she intends to breast feed. Obviously, this devastates my wife and we would like to have our own time with the baby, as it's going to be an equal part of our lives. My question is, can the mother of this child restrict my visitation to HER terms, and HER time, just because she's breast feeding? Or, will a judge rule that she can pump or I can at least get the baby a few hours at a time? I'm willing to compromise, but obviously I can't go to her house and "play house" with her and this baby while my wife is at home.... (FYI - I live in Tennessee)
