Can a order awarding visitation to a biological parent also include a clause relinquishing all parental rights?

I have an order granting vistation rights of my child. This was an order prepared by a hired attorney and my child was not taken from me, I left a bad situation and had no where to go, I left my son with my mother in law at the time and I was forced to sign a visitation agreement in order to be allowed to see my child. I unknowingly signed away all parental rights and gained visitation with just one signature. I have talked with several lawyers and they say that this document has a hole so big in it that someone could fall thru it! Where do I go from here? Any advice?

What you signed is not legal and binding unless it was approved though the court and I take it was not. You need to call legal aide and see if you quality for free legal services they go your incom. You can find them in the blue pages of your phone book under government. I would file for custody of your child, have the granparents served and go to court, the court will give you your child back and will not hold any prior agreements against you for it is not binding. A grandparent cannot get a grasndchild unless you signed consent for them to file for legal guardianship though the court and even if that was the case it would only be tempory until you filed a motion with the court to regain custody. If the state was involved and took your child for some reason and placed the child in the grandparents care then you would have to prove to the court that you are able to now care for your child. If done of these things apply then get you child back. They are taking advanage of you and they are hoping that you will back off.
