Husband works off shore--can he visit kids when HIS schedule is clear?

I have a friend that is working offshore, he tries to see his kids everytime he is off (which he never knows when FOR SURE). He had last weekend off & his ex said "No, you can't come home & see them because it's not YOUR weekend scheduled to see them". Isn't there a law for father's working off-shore & visitation rights? Shouldn't he be able to override the exisiting visitation schedule (every other weekend)?

That is something that he would probably have to take up with the courts to have changed.

if the current agreement is he sees the kids on x or y weekend, he only gets the weekends. and she could turn him away if it wasn't his weekend.

Well, his supervisor said there was another guy going through the same thing & that there was a law supporting those father's who worked offshore who WANTED to visit their kids when they were off--regardless of who's weekend it was. Just wanted to check to see if anyone knew what "law" or "right" that was called.

Thanks!
