I am a grandparent with legal residential custody of my 2 grandchildren in nj. They have lived with me for a year and a half. Can I get a legal agreement regarding visitation with their parents?

My 2 grandchildren visit with their parents, my daughter and her boyfriend, on the weekends. I have written a visitation schedule but they are always picked up late and dropped off early, sometimes even a day early when I am not expecting it. I am wondering can I get some sort of legal agreement regarding visitation through the courts that their parents would have to adhere to?

Unlesss there is a court order stating that the parents have visitations ,you do not have to let the children go with the parents. They would need to file a motion with the court asking for visitations. you can also file for child support against the parents. Depending on the reasons why you got custody, the court may or may not allow for the parents to have visitation. if they do you can have the court stipulate a visitation that will suit the both of you. It is unusal that a parent not have custody of their chilren and then exspect the courts to allow for visitation, but I am not aware of the reasons behind your getting the custody. You can always seek free legal advise though legal aide,or just call an attorney that offers free consutation.
