What are my grandparents right in NC?

My son divorced and his ex remarried, asking my son to let her husband adopt grandson. My son did so, thinking this would make things less confusing for his son. Do I have any rights as his grandmother? i.e. visitation etc.

You would have know legal right as a grandparent even had he not sighed the papers to let his child be adopted. It is sad that he could not of gave this more thought because once done there is know turning back. He may have up to a year to stop it but all states have different time frames. He can call an attorney and see if he can do anything that is if he want to. You can try talking to the mother and see how she would feel about you seeing your grandson. It is up to her now.

The only way you can give the grandchild your last name would be if the parents were to allow you to adopt. Guardianship has nothing to do with name changes. The father would also have to notified of this and agree.
