Educational custody is generaly awarded to a school district truent specialist or juvenile facility when a child is failing to meet the basic standards even with extra help, and when the parents refuse to attend meetings etc.. regarding this (a good way to end up in court is to ignore the schools pleas for you to help them help your child) I have never heard of, doesn't mean it doesn't happen, one parent having physical custody while the other parent has "educational custody" I would check with a family law attorney regarding this, most will do a free consult about something like this.
