When exactly may you have your children around a non-relative of the opposite sex?

I have standard visitation in the state of South Carolina. My estranged wife and I have been seperated for almost 4 years and we go around and around about having our daughter around members of the opposite sex. I was under the impression that once the one year seperation period was over you could take your child wherever you go as long as it's not overnight . Please I could really use some clarification on this one

Like wether or not it is ok to take your daughter with you to visit your girlfriend, or have your girlfriend over to your home when your daughter is there? Are you divorced, or just serperated still?

I am unaware of any statute that would not allow you to take your child around the oppisite sex...unless it is ordered in the custody order, you can take your child with you where ever you go-even if thats to your girlfriends house for overnight visitis as long as there was no inapporpriate behavior taking place in front of your child...I live in Illinois, not North Carolina, so I could be wrong. Check with an attorney, but to me, it sounds as if your ex just doesn't want your child to meet your girlfriend due to jealousy issues....because her grandfather, uncles, friends, etc..are members of the opposite sex as well...

I do not know of any law, but my ex & I decided on our own, that we would not introduce kids to a new "friend" til we had dated that friend for at least 4 months.

I, too, have never heard of a time frame, but I agree with the 4 mo rule. I know I waited that long cuz I didnot want kids confused, my ex had dif girl every month, I finally asked him if he could wait to intro the kids to girl friends , cuz they would come home & tell me about dif girls, I knew I could not make him, but we got along so well I knew I could ask, he agreed, had not thought of the kids' thoughts.
