The Top 10 US colleges according to www.payscale.com are as follows.

1). Dartmouth College
2). Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
3). Harvard University
4). Harvey Mudd College
5). Stanford University
6). Princeton University
7). Colgate University
8). University of Notre Dame
9). Yale University
10).University of Pennsylvania

These colleges have a starting median salary ranging from $51,900-$71,000 and a mid-career median salary ranging from $118,000-$129,000.

Well, there are a lot of ways to answer that question. One way is to look at the Newsweek Magazine rankings. They come out with an annual report: http://bestcollegerankings.org/popular-rankings/newsweek-college-ranki ngs/

But if you're looking for a college, the best college is the one that fits you the best.

You can also check out the Fiske Guide, which has descriptions and ratings for the most competitive schools.

For a completely different tack, try this book. It's full of very distinctive colleges.
