Log book for school bus drivers

I drive a school bus ocassionally for school athletic trips. One driver told me that we could be ticketed by local law inforcement for not using a log. A school route driver told me that the logs were DOT regulations for commercial drivers and not local school bus operaters. I'm confused here. Any help would be appreciated.

You are not a commercial driver. you are a public trans. driver. and you haul human cargo. that dont transport out of state a lot. so you are not under that rule. read your cdl regs . they tell you the same.and you wont be ticketed. for this. you dont even have to pull in at a weigh scale!
