What copyright is there in place for pictures that I post on the Internet, and what rights do I have if someone steals them?

The Federal Copyright Law has provisions within it's content which apply to online copyrights.

Online policy is that in the event a picture is clearly the personal photos of an individual, it is an implied copywright violation to use the other person's picture without their consent. This applies if an individual decides to file a grievance.

What I meant is: If I post images on the Internet, is is enough o just add the sign © to each one of them to let people know that they are copyright, or should I add a watermark on each one to be sure they understand the photos are © ?
I understand that in Canada every image one uploads on the Net is automatically copyright, is that correct?
Now, what if someone steals my pictures for his/her own use and post them somewhere, do I have a right to sue? And what are usually the damages fI could ask for each image copied illegally?

There is a commercial on tv about someone who put a personal photo online and it keeps popping up all over even though she dosent want it to.
you should only put samples online those that you don't mind people having. those that you want to sell, have a pamphlet made up to send to the people that want to buy something from you. once its out there its up for grabs. thats why they never put whats inside books online cause you could read the whole thing and never buy it.
anything that is copywrited and used, as long as they arn't getting any money off it what harm is it but if they use something that is yours copy writed and they are making money from the use of it you could sue.but it would cost you money to do it.
to the person who use's your stuff you could ask them to put a little note under it saying this was made by and your name and website, it could be free advertising. it could be a help instead of hinderance.
