The PS3 should work with any older non-hdtv tv as well.
just know, that you will need to upgrade your cable or satalite package, to get HDTV channels, otherwise they will just be standard def channels on your new fancy HDTV tv.

Hi thanks for your answer. So if i purchase a playstation 3 and want to watch a blu-ray movie on that older tv that is hd ready it will look just as good? do i need any special cables. the back of my tv has the blue and green, so is that what come with the ps3 or do i need to buy something else?
No. if you watch a blu ray movie on your normal tv, it will look no different then a dvd would. but the sound would be better if you have a proper 5.1 or 6.1 sound system set up because of the lossless sound.
I think that should be enough to hook it up to your old tv.
But to really get the power of the ps3 and blu ray, you do need an HDTV tv.

Actually, i just looked up your tv. it is an HDTV that does support 1080i. it just isn't widescreen.
so yes, your blu ray movies should look awesome on it.
