If it is used for personal use only...no it isn't against the law. But if you start a business and make money on it it would be against the law unless you paid royalties for the music.

If it is used for personal use only...no it isn't against the law. But if you start a business and make money on it it would be against the law unless you paid royalties for the music.
Don't say anything and no one will ever think twice is my motto, but starting a business using the copyrighted music for videos and making a profit off of it would defaintly be illegal.

personal use is ok
business use is not
but once you get the royalty thing figured out, you would be good to go with that.

Copryright laws prohibit copying even if there no financial gain. If you intend to produce product using copyrighted material contact the copyright holder and get permission in writing. You will probably have to pay a royalty.
