Buy and sell of stock

Does there always have to be a buyer or seller when you place a market order? I think not, cause when a big sell off happens I can't see that there are buy orders coming in as fast. Thanks.

There has to be a buyer and and seller, otherwise trading wouldn't work. when you sell, you have to be selling to someone.

That is what the current price point it, is that is where the current market is for buyers and sellers to exchange stock.

There has to be some back end system in the NYSI that handles it, like as a phantom buyer perhaps
