Can I declare 18 year old daughter as a dependent?

My daughter turned 18 this past March, lives at home, was working on finishing high school until October, earned about 3k working part time and got married in October. Can I declare her as a dependent on my 2007 Federal Taxes?

Depends, what is she going to file as?

I think if she files as married, you won't be able to claim her.

You can claim her or she can file and claim herself. But you both can't do it. She should probably file anyway. Given her low earnings she probably won't owe any taxes, even if she doesn't claim herself, so you could claim her and get the benefit since I doubt she would need it. Do the math to be sure.

You can claim her if she doesn't file jointly with her husband.

Also, your daughter must have lived with you for more than 6 months of the year. Plus, she must not have provided more than half of her own support for the year.

Concern is correct, you can't claim her now that she is married. I went through this a few years ago myself. ;)
