Stop payment

I sent a check to Etrade to pay off a negative balance and close my account.when Etrade sent it to the bank to be cashed they cashed it for a 100 times its value. Etrade credited my account for that amount. My question is should my bank handle this mess and contact etrade to straighten it out.I contacted etrade and they said they would send me a check for the amount but that doesnt sound like the right thing to do.A stop payment was issued by my bank, but the check has already cleared. What should be done..Thanks!

Was the check written for 100 times over, or was it accidentally cashed for 100 time over?

Since Etrade has the money it is their responsibility to return it. Mistakes happen, we are all only human. It sounds like Etrade is trying to make it right by returning your money, why doesn't this feel right to you? You should let them return your money.

I have had dealing w/ etrade in the past and they too did that to me. I had to sue them for the money. Yes my bank and I both had to sue them. My bank didn't get anywhere with them so I filed suite and was awarded a lovely sum of money. Make sure you get a great lawey if you need a free attorney let me know. I can help you with that no matter where you live.
