Zion bank took my daughter's 'kids saving account' balance.

I contested a $55.00 unauthorized change to my debit card such charge leaving us with over $200.00 dollars in bank fees.

Their representative said that it was too late to dispute it and that we had to pay all of the charges due to this incident as well as the unauthorized debit.

The account is still open and under dispute, however, the bank simply 'took' my little daughter's life savings of $114.00 to cover the overdraft of this other checking account. They also did the same taking out about $100.00 out of my savings so as to cover their 'charges".

Can they do that? Can they confiscate other accounts regardless of drafts made against them? My truck payment comes out of the savings account but did not make it because of the band draining the account all while the delinquent checking account is under dispute? Is this legal? My daugher is highly upset and does not think it is fair to cross the account boundary like that. She feels now that Utah banks are not safe to put her money in. At this point I would have to agree.

I believed that accounts were separate account 'entities' and needed court action to go in and take whatever balance is left standing.

The bank representative, Dusti Reece, said both to me and my son Stephen, 18, that we could not dispute that charge and that in order to straighten out the checking account we had to pay all the bank fees as well as the phoney $55.00. I believe she stole the money for herself.
