Some vegetables are easy to grow in some places, but not so easy to grow in others.

Peas are very easy to grow - they prefer cooler climates (warm - not too hot) so most people grow them in the spring and early summer before it gets too hot. Some taller varieties need lots of fencing to climb on but they grow fast.

Beans are pretty easy too.

Lettuce is easy, but also does not like heat.

Zuchinni is so easy people often have extra and have to give it away!

Potatoes are fairly easy but you do have to hill them up part way through the season, digging them up later is fun - kids can help find them.

Carrots are pretty easy if your soil isnt too hard.

Swiss Chard is also easy if the deer do not eat it all!

Onions are one I never seem to do well with, and tomatoes can somtimes be tricky - corn requires a LONG HOT summer - pumpkins need tons of space!

Have fun with your backyard garden!

The ease of growing vegetables may depend on your specific growing zone and soil conditions. I have had the most success usually in raising peas and cucumbers.

The first year I tried growing peas, rabbits basically destroyed the crop. However, by spraying a mild solution of one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and one tablespoon of olive oil mixed in water on the plants when they are very young, it is possible to deter rabbit attacks on peas (deer are more difficult but they are not a great a problem in my area).

I have been successful in the past with cucumbers by buying seeds that are packaged with seed tape. This prevents the seeds from blowing away in the wind before they can germinate.

Far and away, Zucchini, those suckers keep growing til you're overwhelmed, we eat the flowers early on just to avoid having such a huge surplus later on.
If you forget one on the plant, you will never do it again, it keeps growing! We did it once, got a huge one, and now always check for the shy ones.
