The Iroquois women farmed corn (used for cornmeal, cakes soups and pudding), beans (lima and kidney), squash and pumpkin. The men hunted and provided the deer meat, rabbit, squirrel, bear, and raccoon. They also ate wild ducks and wild turkey. They supplemented with foods from the forest, including various nuts, berries and wild cherries. I have also read (and I don't know if this is true -- I somehow hope it's not) that they practiced ritualistic cannibalism by eating their captives!
