It's hard to generalize, because people with arthritis have different sensitivities and respond differently to different foods.

However, studies have shown that about 60% of arthritis patients get relief by avoiding foods in the nightshade family---tomatoes, eggplant, white potatoes and peppers.

Many people get some symptom relief by following an anti-inflammatory diet.:
Switch to whole grains, eats lots of fruits and vegetables, and switch to unsaturated "good" fats and oils like olive oil. Avoid refined sugar and white flour. Switch from coffee to green tea, and avoid soda, including diet soda. Fresh pineapple is good for countering inflammation, too.

Turmeric, rosemary, cinnamon, ginger and curry spices are also supposed to be helpful. Some of these are sold in supplements, or you can just try to use them everyday in cooking.
