How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

Well, it took 417 for me to get to the tootsie, I didnt actully 'lick' ALL of the sucker off....
And I was in 5th or 6th grade at the time...
I tried to have my kids do this while we were traveling once, I thought it would give them something to do, that lasted about a half of a minute and they were biting the sucker. hahaha

I actually have this thing called a "lick-o-meter", and its this plastic tube that you insert the tootsie pop into, and it uses a spring to count how many times you lick the candy. It shows the number on a digital display, and you can hit pause or reset depending on if you need a break, or want to start over. It also comes with a plastic version of the owl, that you can open up and lock around the pop if you want to put it down for a while, keeps the candy protected.

In junior high my best friend & I used to do it all the time. We got a different number every time, but it was fun.
