Whats with all the weird questions?

I've noticed that in the last day or so, there have been a TON of questions, some of them really odd. I've also notice that most of these questions have been answered, but not awarded by the people who've written them. Whats going on?

I think they want the answers and then they are done with it. But I do agree I am also wondering why people ask and then dont reward those who take the time to answer

I am not too sure how to be "weird" or indeed whether I am weird or non weird. I may need to attend a training course to learn that. But I have only asked one question so far on Webanswers, which had just one answer, and am not awarding until I get some more answers to compare it with. But I do note on rival forums like Yahoo Answers if the person asking does not bother to award a best answer to his question, the whole community get called in to vote the best answer for him. So may be similar policy should be introduced in Webanswers?

I don't wish to single out a user example, because 'weird' can run a whole spectrum of things. It's just a recent huge influx of questions by users who use the site's auto naming feature to ask one question.

It doesnt matter to me, I enjoy answering question and sometimes when I see someone has anwered one and I agree with it, why add another answer to it. This site doesnt vote on the best, its up to the one who has asked. My question is How Long Do You Wait to award? When you get 2,3,4, 5 or more answers or wait for 2,3,4,5 or more days. But sometimes it would be nice if someone acknowledges with a award

Interestingly enough, alot of these questions are mirrored exactly in wikianswers.com and Yahoo Answers. I follow alot of web trends and its amazing how quickly data can be manipulated within a very small population group.

Not all including, Just the New 'Influx of massive numbers' Keeping in mind that there are letigimate questions spread throughout the board.
I don't believe that the questioner cares about the answer. I think it is a game that someone is playing.
If you look at the questions as individual Q's, They all look legitimate.
But if you look at the questions on the board, You can see that for the most part the 'NEW' questions are only in the heading and not in the question line.
Those are the ones I have decided to ignore.

Exactly. I wonder if they're coming from the same IP address; I would find it hard to believe that they're coming from different ones. However, not answering them could do more harm than good, I would consider answering the ones that have more in-depth questions first, and then doing the others for fun.

Additionally, I've seen a few more 'Questioners' answering their own questions, which are thinly veiled opportunities for self promotion.

The voting system has been disgussed for Webanswers as well. Maybe in the future!
And as for the awarding, I don't think it matters how many answers you have. Just award the answer that best answers your question. It is up o the questioner to decide who gets the award and for what reason. If I ask a question, 'Who likes eggs?' and 40 people say that they like eggs, I can pick any one of them to give the award to.
As for the people asking all these questions and not awarding any answers, I hope that they are getting the answer they need, and not just asking questions to see what happens. As long as they get the answer they need I am happy. I am not here for awards, I am here to help people if and when I can!
