1907 32 cal. savage arms. pistol.

How do you know if a 1907 savage arms 32 pistol with a serial # of 125622 was manufactured for the french military? If the pistol has the lanyard ring holes but does not have the ring can it still be a french contract gun? Were some of the pistols made at that time drilled for holes but not sold or delivered to the french?
I have some of the basic history but there seems to be some holes of mystery as to what exactly happened to the guns. I believe that for some reason the french military decided not to use the savage pistols, though I have read an article or two that tells that the french used the guns ( very brief, just a mention), and then I can't seem to find out any more. A gun buyer said that the french changed their minds and did not use them or at least all of them. I have been told that if the French gov. had accepted them then there would be a acceptance stamp on them, but I looked at one gun with a serial # around 129000 that supposedly had documentation of being a french contract gun, but there were not any marks or stamps on the gun. I would appreciate any information that you can give me as I am very interested in the history of these guns.
Thank you.
