Flashing 5MM LED 12 Volt light.

I have a model Railroad layout which is 12 Volt AC, I am trying too hock up a Blue Flashing 5MM 12 Volt DC LED light. I tried the four diode bridge , it operates , however I am missing something across the DC terminal wires, believe it or not if I put my hand across the +and- the light operates . What am I missing? Thank You Rich

Theres different sizes of diods to make a rectifier. When you put your hand across the positive and negative termimals, a small current flowed through you and your hand to the led light thus creating the voltage to change higher and making the led light to light up. On a led light it has to be on a certon  palority in a DC circuit. Try turning the led light  around on the rectifier so that the palority is running or in the opposite direction. In a DC circuit the led light will only alow the current to flow in one direction.
Try these steps,
1. Use a smaller rectifier.
2. Turn the DC voltage up about 2 volts or until the led light turns on.
3. Make sure you have the led light on the right palority.
4. Check to see what the voltage is on the rectifier where led light hooks up to. It should be between 1.5 to 5 V DC. If the voltage is too high the led light might look bright at first then go dim.
5. Check the switching device on the circuit that is switching the led light on and off. The small switch could be burnt inside.
These led lights has to have the right voltage, palority, and switching device.
