Materialistic describes a person who is markedly more concerned with material things (such as money and possessions) rather than spiritual, intellectual, or cultural values.
Materialistic people might brag that they got a really expensive watch, or that they have the best car, or that they will have something that is going to be nicer than yours. They might only buy name brand clothes that are known to be costly. Materialistic means that material things are at the top of importance for that person and it defines who they are.
