Regardless of your age, drinking alcohol should be done in moderation. Abusing alcohol at any age can create a multitude of physical and mental problems. In addition to liver problems, alcohol abuse can cause memory loss, along with a loss of inhibitions. Without knowing your prior medical history, it is difficult to advise you specifically as to whether or not you should drink alcohol. If you are diabetic, you should really avoid alcohol.
Alcohol can affect anyone at any age, however drinking as we get older can affect our health significantly.
Alcohol depletes the body of the B vitamins, which need to be replenished daily, and also cancels out vitamin C.
It affects your blood vessels and arteries, and your liver. Alcohol contains a lot of empty calories, so you are at risk for gaining weight if you are drinking too much. Weight gain brings many other health problems.
You might want to attend an open meeting of "AA", Alcoholics Anonymous", to see if you relate to anything that is said there.
I hope you find your answer.
