It is really hard to quit smoking. Some people have had success with Nicotine Replacement Therapy, or NRTs. These are prescription medicines that can help you quit. I believe most insurance companies will cover at least some of the cost. You would need a prescription from your doctor.

Some of the NRT companies include free phone or online support to help you quit.

I also smoked for many years & it is difficult to quit. Quitting cold turkey is the best way to quit. The patches don't work. When you do decide to quit, don't tell anybody & take it 1 day at a time. If you tell people you're quitting & then you slip, some of them can give you alot of flack. I tried several times to stop but I'd start back & others would give me a hard time. When I finally quit, I didn't tell anybody . I finally succeeded after a couple of times. I have to say quitting cold turkey is the best way to do it.

You have to accept the fact that you are going to have withdrawal symptoms. If your family loves you they will deal with this and show you unconditional love.As for how to stop,my father smoked for 24 years and the way he stopped is prayer. He asked the Lord to take the desire away and he did. But,the Lord knows if you are genuine,so if you aren't he won't take it away.God gave man the knowledge to know how to make cigarettes and he can give you the power to stop.I'm a recovering 26 year old porn addict myself. This is how I overcame my addiction as well.

Smokers who need assistance to stop smoking would be best advised to talk with their family physician first, to determine which smoking cessation products might be best in their situation. It is also advisable to have a support system in place that can help you through the difficult times. The American Cancer Society also has programs that can be of great assistance and a lot of very helpful information on their website.

When smokers try to stop smoking but do not, they have not failed. They are practicing, rehearsing and preparing themselves for the experience of stopping permanently. And practice, as the saying goes, can "make perfect".

I once worked for a psychologist who used hypnosis with great success on many of his smoking patients. You might want to give hypnosis a try but make certain that the practitioner is reputable.
