Adult growth

When I was 16, and joining the army, I measured 5'3 1/2, this had to be accurate as I had to make 5'4" to qualify for my MOS. The army doctor ordered x-rays to see if I would possibly grow more, then he could qualify me, but it was found that my growth plates were closed. So how is it now that I am 37, I am suddenly 5'6"? I have had this confirmed with 5 differnt measurings at differnt times of day. I was tipped off when my husband of nearly 20 years who is 6'5" noted that he suddenly has to put his chin up to place it on top of my head as opposed to being able to put it there with it tipped down. He still measures a solid 6'5" (slightly taller in the morning) What could possibly cause this?

Wow, thats crazy. I have had some friends that I almost didn't recognize at my 10 year HS reunion because they had a late college growth spurt. So I don't see why something could have changed with your body to open your growth plates to grow over 2 inches in your 30s.

You should see a doctor, not to alarm you, but after your growth plates are closed, substantial growth in adulthood can be attributed to brain tumors. Direct or indirect tumors can cause pressure on the pititary gland which is responsible for the production of many of our horomones including growth horomone.

Many of the tallest people in the world have a pituitary abnormality.

Tony Robbins grew like 8+ inches in a year from a pituitary tumor he had. His tumor also burned it self out or something so it was no longer a harm to his body. But it could be worth going to a doctor for.

All medical research proves it is impossible to grow after the growth plates have closed. So I think the Tony Robbins reference has helped most because further searches have given me the most specifics of the disease. Thank you
