I live in Western North Carolina and would recommend Mountain Allergy and Asthma Associates for my neighbors and friends who may be suffering from severe allergies that over the counter medications are not sufficient to treat.

An allergy specialist can perform skin and blood tests to identify primary allergens that an individual may be hypersensitive to. Any allergic reaction that involves the eyes, nose, throat or respiratory system can be diagnosed and treated by an allergist.

High tech computerized breathing tests can be administered for patients suffering with asthma. Prescription steroidal inhalers, eye drops and nasal sprays are often prescribed to prevent reactions from occurring. Once the patient's primary allergies are identified, an extract from the offending allergens can be produced and routine injections given to desensitize the patient to these substances and build immunity to combat allergens. If necessary, x-rays and CT scans can also be used to diagnose the patent's current condition.

I do have multiple allergies and asthma and had it not been for my allergists at this location, I could not live a normal life. If a person's allergies or breathing difficulties are affecting their daily lives, or if their symptoms are intensifying, medical attention should be sought from a physician who specializes in that field.

The link to this question was added to the National Allergist Directory http://woodfloorist.com/National/Allergist Clicking on the state of North Carolina will take you to information about Donald Russell - Mountain Allergy & Asthma Associates. If you would like to recommend an Allergist in your area for the Directory add the information in a comment below.

Thank you so much for the response and for the directory that could be helpful for allergy/asthma sufferers. Recently two people posted questions on the site mentioning how they had lived with asthma/allergies for decades thinking their treatment was sufficient and their ongoing symptoms were normal. When they did go to an allergist and have their treatment updated with medications that are currently available, they were stunned at the difference it made in their quality of life. Hopefully, this will help someone else in the same situation. Thanks again.
