B12 makes me feel exhausted after 5 days

I had a B12 shot 5 days ago and I am still feeling exhausted. I feel fine when I wake up but after breakfast I start to get tired. is this normal? I have a chemical sensitivity due to Fibromyalgia and wonder if this has anything to do with it.

I had concerns about the shot but my doctor assured me there was no need to worry about allergic reaction.

I am a 59 yr. old female.

The human body stores several years' worth of vitamin B12, so nutritional deficiency of this vitamin is extremely rare. Elderly are the most at risk. However, deficiency can result from being unable to use vitamin B12. Inability to absorb vitamin B12 from the intestinal tract can be caused by a disease known as pernicious anemia. Additionally, strict vegetarians or vegans who are not taking in proper amounts of B12 are also prone to a deficiency state

I had a physical and blood work done a few weeks ago and my B12 came back low although I don't know how low. I had low blood as a child but back then nothing was done about it. I had a low reading over 20 years ago. That doctor put the serum in my eye and I cannot remember having the reaction I am having now.

I have IBS and Fibromyalgia. The IBS causes pain and diarrhea after most meals and was thought to be the cause of my B12 deficiency. My daughter is 40 years old, had low blood count as a child and also suffers from IBS causing diarrhea. She is on B12 shots as well.

What more I cannot think to tell you. I have heard that most people do have some type of reaction after their first B12 shot but I find that I am totally exhausted most of the time since I had the shot 5 days ago.

I hope I have given you the information you need and I thank you for your help.

B12 should be making you feel more alive instead of how you are feeling i think the IBS and Fibromyalgia, are making this hard for the b12 action to inprove your system, even though this and i think iam right , the pain and diarrhea , are making you feel worn out , if you can get a med to help this, you might have an improvement have your doctor make a diet change , and a med change, improve your b12 exceptment, Medications are an important part of relieving symptoms. Your doctor may suggest fiber supplements or laxatives for constipation or medicines to decrease diarrhea, such as Lomotil or loperamide (Imodium). An antispasmodic is commonly prescribed, which helps to control colon muscle spasms and reduce abdominal pain. Antidepressants may relieve some symptoms. However, both antispasmodics and antidepressants can worsen constipation, so some doctors will also prescribe medications that relax muscles in the bladder and intestines, such as Donnapine and Librax. These medications contain a mild sedative, which can be habit forming, so they need to be used under the guidance of a physician, hope this helps
