There is a possibility that it is an insect bite, but more likely a seborrhagic, sebum or ringworm type of condition especially if the red spot crusts over. Reads re:scalp conditions usually recommends Nizoral Shampoo 1% OTC (over the counter) and Nizoral lotion.

Bald spot with a red dot in the middle
I am a 30 year old woman.I just noticed on the top of my head a quarter size bald spot with a red dot in the middle, like a insect bite. It doesn't hurt, but I'm very worried, because I didn't notice it yesterday when i washed my hair, and blow dried it. My husband had also rubbed my head last night, and even he didn't notice it. Can you please help me to figure this out.
