Bipolar disorder

If a mother is pregnant and she has the bipolar disorder what is the chances that her unborn baby will have the same bipolar disorder?

It depends on if your biopolar is genetic in origin or not.

Bipolar disorder is genetically linked according to the National Institute of Mental Health. 2/3 of people who have bipolar disorder have at least one close relative that has either bipolar disorder or unipolar depression. The good news is that they have made HUGE strides in treating bipolar disorder, so there will probably be many options by the time the baby starts to exhibit signs (usually in their early 20's).
